Me mude a Egipto en Junio del 2010 para aprender el Árabe. Escéptico de la representación característica de los medios de cominucación occidentales sobre el medio oriente y el Islam. Me encontré con mucha gente con opiniones ignorantes y racistas de una cultura y religión de la cual no sabían nada al respecto. Sin saber que en menos de dos semanas estaría en medio del fuego cruzado de una revolución egipcia violenta e histórica. Los enfrentamientos continuaron por la noche volviéndose peor en el transcurso de las horas. Los manifestantes empujaron a los policías hacía arriba de la calle y por la noche controlaban la área de debajo del hotel. A las 10pm incendiaron otro coche, después incendiaron dos edificios de nuestra cuadra. Hacía las 11pm incendiaron la planta baja del edificio posterior al que nos encontrábamos. Solo un callejón estrecho, lleno de restos separaba a los edificios uno del otro. Llenamos cubetas de agua de la llave del baño y lanzamos el agua desde del sexto piso para apagar las llamas para que no se propagaron a nuestro edificio. El dueño del hotel, 2 Egipcios, y una pareja de Washinton DC quienes habían empacado todas sus pertenencias y habían estado esperando en la planta baja, solo Dios sabe por que, quienes habían decidido después de una hora para regresar al hotel, yo y una moza flaquísima de Polonia hicimos esto por horas. The State Department said on Monday that six US citizens had been killed and two wounded in the attacks on Mumbai. “In terms of numbers of dead, I believe that number is six.
